MakaluMedia wins contract to support the Monitoring & Control of the European Space Agency’s Ground Station network

November 29, 2006

MakaluMedia GmbH has won a five-year contract to support the Monitoring & Control (M&C) of the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Ground Station network at ESA’s Operations Centre (ESOC) in Darmstadt, Germany. ESA maintains a global network of ground stations for tracking, telemetry and tele-commanding, known as ESTRACK. In addition, several other stations are used in co-operation with other organizations, depending on a mission’s requirements. The stations are equipped with an M&C system that allows operation of each station locally or from the remote located Ground Facilities Control Centre (GFCC) at ESOC.

MakaluMedia is taking over responsibility for supporting this ESTRACK M&C system to enable the standard and operational “tailoring of new or upgraded devices and to support the scheduled, automatic and consistent configuration of the stations to allow tracking, telemetry and command (TTC) operations of individual spacecraft missions, for Launch & Early Orbit Phase (LEOP), Critical Mission Phases and Routine Phase operations for all missions supported by ESTRACK.

MakaluMedia has a service team on-site at ESOC to provide support that covers, in particular, tailoring, environment management and installations, test & validation, configuration control, documentation, training, maintenance, first line support, and occasional ground station visits. In addition our team will conduct continuous evaluation of the tailoring efficiency and make suggestions for improvements.
