Position
MakaluMedia is seeking a team leader and project manager, to work either in its Spain office (Marbella) or its German office (Darmstadt).
Education
The candidate should have a university degree (preferably at the Masters level) in a technical area (preferably engineering or computer science). The candidate shall have demonstrated a self-interest in keeping up to date with relevant web/development technologies and related social trends.
Experience
The candidate shall have at least two years of project management / team leadership experience. S/he should have previously worked in a technical capacity (system architecture, design or development), in order to ensure a deep understanding of the technical context of web development. The candidate shall have a solid understanding of web systems architecture.
The candidate shall have experience in proposal development, including the gathering of customer requirements, preparation of effort and planning estimations, and risk assessment.
The candidate should be capable of organizing a team of designers and developers to successfully meet project/customer objectives. S/he should be capable of conducting project management and budget control. S/he should be capable of tracking resource allocation of team members across multiple projects.
The candidate shall have knowledge and practical experience in formal development processes, including exposure to agile methods.
Preferably, the candidate should have experience in several phases of a project life-cycle, from gathering of requirements, to system design, to development, integration, testing and operations. Experience working in a process-based environment using issue tracking tools and source version control is especially attractive.
Technical Knowledge
Exposure and/or experience in the following technical areas would be advantageous:
- Ruby on Rails web application framework.
- Drupal content management system
- PHP scripting language
- XHTML/CSS
- MySQL and/or Oracle relational database systems
- The LAMP platform
- SVN or CVS version control system.
Miscellaneous
The candidate shall be able to demonstrate excellent written and spoken communication skills (in the English language), and must be capable of organizing their time effectively.
It would be attractive if the candidate has maintained a personal weblog for more than a year.
The candidate should be willing to work on a contract basis for at least a year before considering an employment relationship.
