From initial concepts to the final winning design, you're part of the team. We don't hide our process, or deliver a logomark you haven't helped create. We believe you can help us produce better solutions.
Though a series of questions, Mike Rohde works in close collaboration with you, to better understand your specific logo requirements, goals and desires. Once this information is received and reviewed, Mike sketches multiple logo concepts for presentation, along with detailed descriptions and explanations of each concept.
Next, Mike creates black and white concepts, based on sketches you've approved. We work in black and white to arrive at the best logo concept in its simplest form before any color is applied.
Finally, we take the winning black and white logo design and apply color, working with you to help finalize the logomark. Once finalized, we can provide further branding expertise in the form of letterhead, envelope and business card, web site and template design or various other applications.
Please review the selected case studies below, and contact Mike Rohde for a detailed quote.
Challenge: Develop a corporate identity suite for both UserScape, a small software developer and for HelpSpot, the firm's first web-based help-desk application.
Solution: MakaluMedia developed the two logo marks in tandem so they would always work as a unit yet also remain distinct and unique. The use of the orange dot on the marks indicates a stylized person's head on UserScape while it acts the dot on an exclamation point on HelpSpot. In this way the two marks work together yet keep a distinct identity of their own.
Our client, Ian Landsman recorded his thoughts in the weblog post Creating a Business Logo.
Challenge: Develop a corporate identity for Panoramio, a web service which blends picture posting with Google maps positioning.
Solution: MakaluMedia worked with Panoramio to establish an approach for the logo mark which emphasized the location-orientation of the service. Working with the client from sketches through final art we developed a logo with a stylized compass integrated into the font, using bright colors to suggest earth and sky.
Client Eduardo Manchón wrote an article at Alzado.org (Spanish) on the logo design process.
Challenge: Create a memorable logo for Outer Level, a software development and consulting firm.
Solution: MakaluMedia collaborated with owner Jon Trainer to develop a mark that represented his software development and consulting firm, Outer Level. Through the design process, we created an active purple spiral within a glowing yellow rectangle, above white type, stacked in a black square. We also developed a stationery suite with the new logo.
Company Logo is Jon's weblog post about his experiences creating a logo with us.
Challenge: Create a bright and friendly corporate identity for hrpod, a web-based human resources service.
Solution: We collaborated with the client, Troy Kruthoff, to develop a bright, uplifting logo for the human resource service, hrpod. Our development of the logo mark focused on the concept of three leaves, with a symbolized person created using the space between those leaves. This logo was completed, though service never launched.
